SINGLE COUNTER FOR INVESTORS AND SINGLE REGISTRY OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS
On July 26, 2023, the “Decree establishing the Single Counter for Investors and the Single Registry of Investment Projects” was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. The objective is to provide potential investors with a guidance mechanism and access to information regarding the procedures they must follow, as well as facilitate decision-making to materialize their investment. It is a public contact and guidance mechanism. Investments in financial, banking, credit, savings, and financial innovation matters are excepted.
The Decree also contemplates the creation of a Single Registry of Investment Projects, which will be an electronic registry of administrative facilitation for the management of investments in Mexico for amounts equal to or greater than USD$100,000,000 (one hundred million dollars).
The Ministry of Economy will be the department unit in charge of the Single Counter and the Registry, will coordinate the federal authorities and will determine the sectors with the greatest potential for economic growth for investments, in accordance with the country's industrial policy.
The Ministry must issue the guidelines for operation and functioning, within 45 calendar days from the day after the publication of the Decree.
